Pricing & contracts

The money questions

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. When you buy an Ajax system from us, you own the equipment outright — there’s no multi-year contract. Monitoring is optional, and if you choose it, it’s month-to-month with no long-term lock-in. (If you’d rather spread the cost, we also offer a fair 36-month lease on a monitored package — your choice.)

Do I have to pay for monitoring?

No — monitoring is optional. Many homeowners self-monitor for free through the app: you get the alerts on your phone and decide what to do. If you’d like a monitoring centre watching 24/7 (useful when you travel or run a business), you can add it for a modest monthly fee and cancel any time.

How much does a system cost?

It depends on how many doors, windows, and cameras you want to cover. There are two parts: a one-time cost for equipment and installation, and an optional monthly monitoring fee. As a starting point, our Ajax security bundle — Hub 2 Plus, two door sensors, a motion detector and a keypad — is $650 in equipment, and NDAA-compliant cameras start at $321.86 each. See full security system pricing, book a free no-pressure assessment, or design a system online and see the price instantly.

Should I buy or lease?

Buying an Ajax system outright costs more up front but you own it, with no contract — usually the better long-run value. Leasing a monitored Alarm.com package spreads the cost into a low monthly payment with monitoring included, on a 36-month term. Neither is “right” for everyone — we’ll show you both.

Is there GST?

Yes — we’re in Alberta, so 5% GST applies. There’s no provincial sales tax. Every quote and invoice shows the GST separately so you can see exactly what you’re paying.

Equipment & install

How it works

How long does installation take?

Most homes are done in a few hours, in a single visit. We schedule a time that suits you, install and configure everything, and make sure it’s all working and you know how to use it before we leave.

Do the cameras work in Alberta winters?

Yes. We use weatherproof equipment rated well below our coldest nights, and we recommend hardwired cameras for reliable power in deep cold. Mounted and set up correctly, they work as well in February as they do in July.

Will the system still work if I cancel monitoring?

Yes. Because you own the equipment, it keeps working — you simply lose the monitoring-centre service. You can still self-monitor from your phone.

What happens if I move?

It’s your equipment, so you can take the portable parts with you, or leave it for the new owners. We’re happy to help you reinstall at your new place.

Are your cameras NDAA-compliant?

Yes. The Ajax cameras we install are NDAA-compliant, so they’re not built on the hardware flagged for surveillance and data-security concerns — important for businesses and anyone who cares where their footage lives.

About us & coverage

What is the ASIP grant?

Alberta’s Security Infrastructure Program funds security upgrades for at-risk community organizations — places of worship, schools, and nonprofits — up to $65,000. We provide the compliant quote you need to apply. See our ASIP guide.

Can you help with elder care?

Yes. We design respectful monitoring that helps a parent stay independent — sensors and panic buttons over cameras inside the home, with gentle alerts for the family. Learn more.
